This two-pronged project includes the ‘Marine Drive Salvage Archaeology Project’ (MaDSaP) and the Centre for Archaeology, Culture, and Biodiversity Conservation Project (CACBCP-Shai), initiatives. The MaDSaP, which was being led by Dr Wazi Apoh, was meant to conduct reconnaissance survey and salvage archaeology at the marine Drive Project sites of Osu in order to identify and recover invaluable remains of past interactions in this area in the face of the destruction and modernization of this coastal stretch of the Christianborg Castle and beyond. The CACBCP-Shai project, led by Dr William Narteh Gblerkpor, was meant to identify, document, map, and examine the changing nature of cultural and ecological landscapes of the Shai Hills in the Eastern Accra Plains, Ghana in order to help interrogate the dynamic nature of human-nature interactions in these areas during the last two millennia.
